Installed on Mustang GT 4.6 Sohc 2000 Release. Often cited as one of the best sounding V8s "There's nothing quite like the sound of a Mustang with Flowmasters." Well the Flow Masters sounded nice and "tough" but they hummed even with the stock H- Pipe so loud at highway revs (1900+ rpm). Enough to drive you crazy in a 3 hour drive. I had an off-road H-pipe with flow masters and the sound was godless but unbearably LOUD. I felt like I was going to be stopped at any second. Decided to reinstall the stock H-pipe and switch to a bullet-style "M-80" straight-through muffler, essentially a super-thick double-glazed muffler about 16 inches long. very deep and eliminated any rumble and had a very aggressive low-pitched growl, pleasant rumble at idle, actually lots of gurgling and popping. However, as I got older I got tired of just being noisy. It was my favorite noise in that car, but driving in a quiet area at night was very gross. During the day it was tolerable and since there was no drone I was able to have a conversation in the car. It sounded very angry and loud, people knew you were approaching. Real Review: Thrush Turbo Mufflers, best of both worlds. Want something quiet while driving, but loud enough to make you smile when you step on the gas? Look no further, this silencer has absolutely NO DRONE. It is very quiet at idle would say it will be 25% to 50% louder than the original with a Flowmaster 100% louder than the original and a straight muffler "m80 style" which is 150-175% louder than the original is. At normal driving speeds of 500-3000rpm this turbo style muffler is quiet, don't get me wrong, it's still a bit loud but not loud enough to make a cop turn his head. At 3100rpm and up it has a decent roar, enough to tell you you're not kidding. However it is still significantly quieter than the Flowmaster, I would say it will be 65-85% louder than the Flowmaster at higher RPMs. , up to $1,000 fine for excessively loud exhaust, no more repair slips, just direct fines. "Louder" at the bulls' discretion FLOW: I feel like it's a bit more restrictive than the Flowmaster, and judging from straight M80 mufflers I feel like it's a bit "choking" at higher rpm, but this could just be my appearance as it seems slower simply because it's not louder. Maybe just a slight drop in performance, albeit barely noticeable. The soundproofing paid off for my application. I no longer feel like an idiot at 12pm or on the morning shift, and for $25 a pop and some fat, I'm 100% satisfied.
