Review on πŸ’ Flat Iron Stand by CHI: A Must-Have Accessory for Efficient Hair Styling by Lynn Walker

Like others it doesn't stay in place

I bought this for my wife to help her protect her iron from heat damage and tidy up her work surface. I should also note that I use this stand with her iron for safety, combined with a smart plug to turn her iron on and off at specific times before she goes to work. I wanted her iron to be preheated for her when she gets dressed for work and also to make sure she turns it off after using it as she's notorious for leaving it on and bugging me when she makes a fire at home. Her straightener is a Paul Mitchell (about 1.25 inch) and fits perfectly. The hole appears to require an iron up to 1.5 inches depending on the exact dimensions. The plastic heats up while your iron is in it, but I see no reason why it should melt or catch fire. I purposely tested it with her iron sitting in the holder for just 30 minutes, and while the plastic felt hot to the touch (note her iron is set at 410 degrees), it doesn't feel dangerous or flammable. .My only complaint is that I can't get the suction cups to stick to a smooth surface for more than 24 hours. I've tried smooth tile, smooth granite countertops, and glass mirror for mounting surfaces. The suction cups always fail after about a day, no matter what I do to prepare the surface or the suction cups (e.g. rubbing alcohol, glass cleaner, soapy water, plain water). Once she's figured out exactly how she likes the placement and has been using it like that for a while, I'll probably use the included anchor and screw to mount it to the wall for her.
