leaks! Suitable for Digital Cameras

I bought this camera to use while diving in Mexico. When I received it I was very pleased with the small form factor as well as the quality of the few test shots I took prior to the trip. I also purchased the accessory kit and found the silicone case to fit well and provide a good grip and protection. battery slot or excessive depth impact, I have purchased an extended warranty to be on the safe side. A good thing! On the second day of snorkeling, the camera stopped working (of course, right at the moment we were filming a friendly sea turtle). I took the camera to the hotel room and took it out of the silicone case. It still wasn't responding and the blue power indicator was stuck in light mode. There was also some water staining inside the case on the rear LCD screen, but it was hard to see since the screen wasn't backlit. I gently wiped the camera completely and opened the battery cover and sure enough there was a small drop of water underneath. Well folks there was no way the battery door wasn't properly closed, I checked it 3 times before going in the water (and it would take a complete idiot to make that mistake after reading these reviews, plus very detailed instructions on how to close the battery door included with the camera). We've also never been in the water more than about 5 feet. The battery compartment seal and latch appear to be of poor design. Anyway, I removed the SD card and battery. The photos on the SD card were fine. After drying the inside of the camera I put the battery back in and another SD card and it worked and everything seems fine. Unfortunately, I have now lost all confidence in the device. My 30 day return period for Revain has expired but I will most likely be returning it for an extended warranty. Another thing someone mentioned. The rubber coating of the control buttons already seems to be peeling off in several places. Some wear and tear (worn TWICE) but only some material damage. If I had to do it all over again, I'd spend the extra money and buy a Canon.

For the price you can't go wrong! But you will need a 2nd camera if not using it underwater
