This thing saved a life. In our living room where we sit, 2 things are always plugged in: the Wii U gamepad charging station and a Wi-Fi connected lamp. Almost every day my wife unplugs the cradle to plug in her phone to charge and when she's done she always forgets to put the cradle back in. Then when my son wants to play Super Mario 3D World, the gamepad is dead and that's it. I bought this and hooked it up and it saved the day. The lamp and charging cradle can remain plugged in, and we also have a spare socket. My wife can connect her phone to the USB port. That's great.
