Review on Teabloom Loose Glass Infuser Coaster by Miguel Saiz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works as expected although a bit difficult to clean

I've recently started intermittent fasting and have found that a good cup of loose leaf herbal tea is a great way to help me get through lunchtime. A popular meta review site recommended a tea infuser/filter for use with a standard cup and it works well except it has plastic supports and no matter how free of BPA and other things I don't think that's good. The idea is to drink a drink consisting of boiling water poured over plastic and left for 10 minutes. My next stop was an all-metal brew/filter and I found a decent one, but I found I'm very sensitive to metallic tastes and although I believe it's stainless steel I still feel a bit in the tea I do with him. A few years ago my husband and I had a glass teapot with a glass brewer. I remembered that the glass was broken between the two slits, so the tea didn't rise properly. But we leave it because it looks nice. Anyway, I did find a few "test tube" style glass brewers, and the complaints were that they were difficult to clean (which makes sense for something 3/4" in diameter and deep). at the bottom of the tube), so I gave it up. When I found this glass teapot with a lid (which is really important because I need a place to put my drippy teapot after the tea is brewed), I knew I had to try it. It was packaged very securely and was undamaged. I've hand washed it (although I can throw it in the dishwasher if I keep it away from other heavy things like coffee mugs) and the lid was a bit difficult to clean due to lips, but really shouldn't have a lot of junk on it. I brewed my first cup of tea with it and it was good as expected and there was no weird metallic aftertaste (again, as expected). The only reason I'm deducting a star is because I see some tiny tea leaves (or bits of them) stuck in the cracks. A soapy dishwashing sponge wasn't enough to get them off, so I'll probably have to use some sort of baby bottle brush or something. I understand that if the manufacturer made the slits big enough to keep the leaves out, the leaves would end up in the drink. And if they made them smaller, the tea wouldn't brew properly. So I appreciate the dilemma they faced. I just think a small brush would help with that. (Also, the water drains very slowly into the mug when filling the brewer, so I had to give it more time when pouring. Not a big problem, I just had to pour slower than I'm used to with metal infusions.)

Pros
  • Sparkly
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
