Review on 🐢 Puppia Authentic Vivien Harness A - Sky Blue (Small): The Ultimate Dog Harness for Style and Comfort by Sophia Wells

Revainrating 4 out of 5

There is a BIG difference between small and medium sizes and neither fits my Frenchie due to the inelastic opening.

We are adding a French bulldog puppy to our family and wanted to get a harness ready for her when I pick her up at the end of August when she is 8 weeks old. I didn't have any measurements so I ordered a very small one (stupid solution) and when I received it I found that being too small wouldn't fit her rapidly growing head. This harness needs to be worn over the head, so neck size doesn't matter and the material doesn't stretch. GENERAL. I returned the very small one and ordered the small one after asking another french bulldog puppy owner who suggested he was 11 weeks old. The old Frenchy's medium-sized puppy harness was still too big for her pup. While waiting for the small Vivienne harness to be delivered (and as part of my nesting phase) I also ordered a medium size to grow because this style is just so darn cute and Amazon has great prices. I grow small and medium in the same day. You'd think I'd be covered in those two sizes, but the medium would certainly be too big for my French lady to begin with, and the small is still too small to fit her head. The breeder sent me the measurements (at my request) after I placed those orders a week ago and her skull was already 12" (the little Vivienne harness only has a 10 5/8" head hole) and based on the photos I saw. Since then it's grown like weeds, it probably already has a 13" head (which is exactly the size of the head hole on Vivien's middle hanger). You would think a medium size would be perfect as her head will barely fit in a 13 inch hole but the rest of the pendant is sooooo much more than small and way too big for a pup's body. I don't have an x - small can't compare to small but in my memory x-small look almost the same size but the difference between small and medium is HUGE I wanted to return the small but I decided to return it, just take my scissors and a sewing machine and something to fix (like putting a rubber band on the head hole) so her head goes straight through and she has a nice matching harness until her little french body fills the space. Not sure what the big one looks like, but I'm sure we'll be in the big one soon due to the non-adjustable/inelastic head hole; or we may need to try a different puppy harness as I'm not sure if my issue is just Vivien and I don't want to keep making changes that distract me from the cuteness of this harness. I hope this helps someone trying to make a sizing decision. I read many reviews before purchasing but all seem to relate to their dogs breed or weight rather than their head/neck size so most of the reviews were useless to me. I will add a photo of the small and medium straps side by side so everyone can see the size difference.

Pros
  • Adjustable chest strap
Cons
  • Big and bulky
