Review on Jadebones Infrared Motion Nintendo Console by James Ortega

Noticeably large latency/response issues

I've been pleased to hear feedback from people saying these replacement parts are just as good as the real thing. I should have been more skeptical; definitely too good to be true. They look, weigh and feel just right, and the little stand is actually better quality than the original and fits pretty well. The cable is also long. However, there is a HUGE lag between the actual movement and the on-screen reactions. I have a Nintendo branded sensor and needed another so I bought it. Everything works fine when using the Nintendo touchpad (I'd say excellent, but let's be honest, the motion controls are still not very good). If I move my Wiimote to the left, the character moves to the left. I move to the right, the character moves to the right. With this replacement, the delay between moving the Wiimote and actually moving on the screen is about a full second. Both rods were tested one after the other on the same system, in the same place, with the same Wiimote. If you only need a touchpad for menu navigation, this won't be a problem for you. If you really need a replacement sensor bar, feel free to skip this one. Funny side note, I've seen cheap Chinese crap with horrible translations before, but I've never seen one that bad. The box says "IR Inductor: For Hair Console". On the packaging it is referred to as "hair console" 4 or 5 more times. I'm not sure what "Hair Console" is, but this thing definitely doesn't work.

Pros
  • Excellent replacement for an original sensor that has been lost, broken or damaged. plug and play
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
