I was having some heat issues with my HTPC and game consoles inside my media cabinets, so I bought a few of these fans to help with that. I drilled 3" holes (80mm) in the back of the cabinet, and then mounted these fans on the inside to aid in exhausting the hot air. They get the job done very well. Before installing these fans, I had to leave the door on the game console cabinet cracked while playing games or watching Blu-rays for long periods of time. I also had to leave the door on the HTPC and A/V receiver cabinet cracked at all times (my HTPC is always on). With these fans installed I am now able to leave the cabinet doors closed at all times without the air temperature inside the cabinets getting high. In fact, the temperature inside the cabinets is not appreciably higher than the ambient air temperature in my living room when these are running exhaust. To mount the fans I used Velcro dots for easy removal and a bit of vibration dampening. I don't know for sure if the Velco does, in fact, help with vibration as I have not mounted them using any other means. However, for my purposes, these fans are silent. I do not hear any noise from the fans even when the room is silent.
