I have used this solder to attach wires, reuse old diodes and melt small pieces of plastic. It was useful for small jobs around the house. The temperature control is also excellent and extremely useful. However, I have to dock the star due to two main issues: some devices have a light or hiss to indicate usage, and this one has neither. The biggest problem, however, is that the device is not firmly plugged into the socket. Any light touch will cause the fork to move, hence my previous complaint. So I usually have to stay close to an outlet to use this device. But overall I'm more than satisfied.
