Opened the package with my new CD which made me so happy. I took the box to find a hacky slab. It was quite obvious that the product had not previously been in the original packaging. I installed it on my computer and although it works as expected, when I looked at the drive with some software I use to manage my drives and run tests, I realized that someone had already used this drive and had probably returned it. I paid for a brand new disc, not an opened box. Absolutely ridiculous. I went ahead and did a secure erase just in case, but for the $300 I spent on 1TB I'm very disappointed. I still have it installed because after securely erasing the drive, I cloned my c: drive to it and I won't go through the whole process again. I feel that I have been wronged and there is little I can do about it.
