Label says "Chemical Material". Not sure what that means, maybe it means "synthetic" since it was made in China. The tie you see from the front is actually a strip of fabric sewn to tie the material together as shown in the picture (see pictures on back on Amazon). Not sure why the strip of fabric was on the back as I couldn't slide it forward without tearing the sleeves. If you cut off the strip, you get a normal bolero lining. There are also curtains on the front made of knotted material, but judging by the photo, the tie is tied at the back. Someone else would have to tie you into your jacket; later you can put it on or take it off as it is wide enough. One size fits all; I usually wear small/medium sized clothes but this one is a bit loose. It looks elegant as can be seen in the photos but I sent it back because it was too big and the material bothered me.
