READ CAREFULLY when purchasing this item. If you install the extractor wrong, this thing WILL NOT PRODUCE. If you look at the photo in the negative reviews, you can see that there is a full inch of space between the extractor and the base. This is because users don't install the extractor properly and it a) probably doesn't spin at full speed and b) definitely doesn't get hot enough to melt the sugar. The manual doesn't explain it very well. This indicates that the extractor has slots and those slots should line up properly when you push it down. A better manual would include this information multiple times, particularly in the troubleshooting sections (which it doesn't). It took me 3 times to figure out what was going on and when I found out we had tons of cotton candy. Again. There are notches on the extractor. They should line up when you click them, as per the manual. There will be about 3/8 inch of space. Check out the negative reviews here and see the pictures provided. Suction head not fully lowered. In any case. For this reason I gave 4 stars. I spent a good hour with my daughter and was about to wrap it up to send it back until I realized it just wasn't getting hot enough to melt the sugar and make the candy. Hope this helps someone.
