Case for demanding trails

I just received my case and I can't wait to use it! After reading some of the reviews I was a bit concerned about some of the choices. I'm glad I ordered this. Advantages: 1) Zipper closure, no Velcro! Some people prefer velcro for easy access. I have one time too. After traversing an extremely difficult trail, wading through tall grass, small trees and shrubs, and falling off hidden cliffs and ankle traps more times than I care to admit, I found that both my GPSr and video camera were somewhere else on the mountain were. Both were in cases with velcro lids. Luckily the camcorder is a white and orange Flip Vidoe and was found after an extensive search. Black and gray GPSr still somewhere on the runway.2) Size. Big enough for a Gramin 60 series GPSr and spare batteries (now lost) and even more room for a DeLorme PN 60 (I liked Garmin but decided to experiment) 3) High quality heavy duty fabric 4) Permanently sewn on belt loop. Clips can allow the covers to push or pull on the girdle during heavy growth. I prefer to hike on more remote trails that tend to be less used and overgrown. Straps with buckles may come loose or the buckles may not work. I speak from experience with both of these features. Clips, straps and buckles are great for open trails, but when it comes to brushing - give me a permanent strap loop! Cons: 1) The zipper looks a bit flimsy. Tips: 1) I wish the belt loop was bigger so I could slide it over the hip pads on the backpack straps. 2) I wish the zipper and zip were stronger. 3) I would like more padding but it is enough and my GPSr devices are chosen for being waterproof. durable and impact resistant. They take a lot of damage when taken out of their case4) The Garmin logo on the front does not look like the picture. Big cheers. I've always preferred function to form, so it's not really a problem for me.

Pros
  • Absolutely brilliant!
Cons
  • Not bad but...
