I had a leak in a water mains valve and used this funnel with an adapter to connect it to a garden hose and it went straight to my basement drain. The valve leaked about a gallon of water about every 10 minutes. That meant I had to change a 5 gallon bucket every 45-50 minutes. Luckily there is another valve that shuts off all the water but when we poured water I had to set the timer on my phone and keep an eye on the bucket. Now I can plug it in and let it run for a day until the special valve kicks in. Hopefully in a few days. This funnel is of excellent quality. No smell (as someone else mentioned here). The thread hasn't leaked even though I don't push a lot of water through it at once. If it was leaking I would just lubricate the threads with pipe grease or teflon tape. A separate adapter is ideal for connecting a funnel to a garden hose. I drilled two small holes in the side of the funnel to stretch the wire and attach it to the plumbing. I highly recommend this funnel.
