I have a sharpener that cuts through expensive ribbons too quickly. These leather belts stay put on my belt sharpener. They are durable, polish well and the supplier insists on replacing any failed belt. It lends itself well to buffing, which is crucial for carving leather. Not as good for sharpening as fine to medium grit (expensive) belts. Leather can't get thinner without losing strength, so I've given up using it with a blade guide that a skilled craftsman doesn't need anyway.
