I didn't want to mess with a cheap fake brand so I ran for more money and replaced my original Verilux lamp with another Verilux lamp shocked, that a new lamp using EXACTLY the same model CFML27VLX is now made 1/4 inch wider than the lamp with the same model number as me. The base fits well, but the problem is that the new bulb feels too wide for the metal spring clip that holds the bulb in place, away from the plastic diffuser cover. I had to stretch the spring clip to get it to hook onto the bulb, but due to thermal expansion and contraction I have no idea how long the bulb will stay in place. I checked three times to make sure the bulb number is the same, matching the number on the old bulb with the number on a new bulb and also on a new box. the socket fitted, but the new bulb is too wide for the spring clip. I suspect this is typical of the kind of sloppy manufacturing variance we expect from products made in a country that starts with a "C” and ends with an "a” (and I don't mean Canada). This is not the problem I expected from a Verilux product, especially after paying three times what I would pay for one of the cheap imitations also made in the same country. Very disappointing.
