Buy new. Do not believe that the guaranteed refurbished

came without a charger. When I reported it I have to return everything. WTF? Why can't they just send a charger? And it takes 15 days to return. The port appears to be a hair's breadth shorter than the next-gen iPad, it's just that Apple is trying to make a few extra bucks by making each charger unique. I guess I'll shell out another thousand to buy a new one instead of a "guaranteed" refurbished one.
