I bought these because of the lingering smell of cloth diapers after washing in hard water. It is "odorless" but has a faint odor inherent to its ingredients. The smell doesn't stay on the clothes. I don't know the ingredients in this product and am trying to avoid synthetic chemicals in my laundry, but this product is an important step in my diaper care routine. While diaper care websites recommend using it with every wash, I add a full cap to my diaper prewash cycle about once a month and it pretty much prevents build-up of odors that cause build-up. It is safe for cotton, hemp and microfiber inserts/inserts and polyurethane covers. My baby had no skin irritation from adding Calgon to my diaper conditioner. Highly recommended to restore freshness and remove mineral deposits from diapers. This product works differently and better than baking soda or vinegar for softening wash water. The last two products can actually be counterproductive to keeping diapers clean.
