At first I thought this guard only works remotely - I usually park opposite my house which is on the patio and I thought the distance should be about 100 feet. It worked fine from there, but I was frustrated to find I could still unlock my car from up close - maybe 20 feet - with the key inside. Then I remembered something that another reviewer shared somewhere: There are 2 pockets in this shield: one on the side with Velcro is unprotected, but there is a second with a gray lining that actually protects against readings. When I put my key in this section it worked like magic - in fact I thought my battery was dead when I first got behind the wheel because I got a 'key not found' message on my dashboard . I panicked, then tried to get the key out of the lock and my car started immediately. So I am very satisfied. One thing though, like the photo, this product is a lovely pink, not a deep purple.
