The usable area to mount/pin things is 7.12" x 9.25". Picture frames are always sold by the interior size; like an 8"x10" photo fits in an 8x10 frame. But it's a very nice shadowbox. I just cut down a collage a bit to fit inside the shadow box. Deeper than I thought it would be; but that's on me for not reading the details. Very happy with it. Great price for real wood; most cheaper ready-made frames are plastic.
