Fails catastrophically under light load (10 pounds)

plastic tires and fails catastrophically under light load. I was about 15 kg. the coat hangs on a bracket that is attached to the drywall with two screws: that's a permanent load of 7.5 kilos per screw. The wooden hanger isn't heavy and maybe adds another 8 ounces. static weight per anchor. About a year later, the hanger fell to the ground. The plastic on each anchor broke. The anchor was white where the plastic fatigued during the installation process (this is the correct installation: the plastic curls up and fans out behind the wall). The holes in the wall were correct: the snap anchors were folded in and pulled out through the holes originally drilled. The holes I drilled were just enough for the anchors to go through like they were supposed to. This is incredibly dangerous. The load was less than 10% of the nominal 143 pounds and had a pet or child underneath the hard corner of the wooden hanger could cause serious injury.

Pros
  • Maximum tensile strength is 143 pounds in 1/2" drywall with #8 x 1-1/2" screw
Cons
  • Out of fashion
