Review on πŸ“¦ Akro-Mils Clear Plastic ProBox 14-Inch Art Supply, Craft, or Medical Storage Toolbox with Removable Tray (14"x8"x8") by Kevin Cole

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Well made, suitable for some uses, dimensions not as advertised

Sturdy box with six plastic hinges, good quality metal clasp (but good enough to keep small children out) and good. - the solid plastic handle. For those who need a place to store lots of small tools and dainty bits this should be fine - good value for money. Phew, I needed something to store a specific tool - my soldering kit. I must have looked at several dozen different boxes, compared the listed dimensions to the measured dimensions of my tool, made the best possible estimates of wall thickness, usable tray height and usable main compartment internal dimensions, etc. It just seemed like the right thing to do. But the manufacturer's claims of 14 x 8-1/8 x 8-1/8 are optimistic to say the least. There are ribs and cutouts on the sides and top, presumably to increase rigidity but seriously reduce usable internal volume; The handle rests in its own indentation at the top, good when you need to stack something on top, not so good when you need to maximize the available volume for the top compartment. these are usable internal dimensions: 12-3/16” l. x 5-3/4” m. x 5-11/16 in. (total height). The shells are generally designed for very small parts, but I'll list the inside dimensions anyway: 12-11/16 in. L. x 5 9/16” m. x 2" hr., approx. 2-9/16" " to the grip notch. Without the compartment, the usable height of the main compartment is 3-3/8 inches. Hope this helps someone; back to the research work for me.
