Review on Steinbrucke EDC Knife: 3.4'' Sandvik 14C28N Serrated Blade, G10 Aluminum Handle & Glass Breaker - Perfect Men Gift For Camping & Outdoor! by Arunprasath Corso

Solidly constructed folding belt knife

This is a solidly constructed folding belt knife. The blade is hard stainless steel that will keep its edge; as received the blade wasn't super-sharp (thumbnail drag test) but it quickly touched up with a whetstone and a leather strop. Part of the blade is serrated for sawing through fibrous vegetation or through seatbelt fabric, and the knife body includes a diamond-tipped glass scratcher/breaker. The knife handle has an aluminum body with G10 epoxy composite inserts for a sure grip, and there's a belt/pocket metal clip on one handle side. The closed knife has an opening stud that you press to fully open and lock the knife blade. As received the knife was a little stiff to open; I verified that the bearing was greased, opening became easier with repetition and practice, and the opening stud really is easier to use than the blade's thumb studs. Because of the stiffness I don't hesitate to close this knife one-handed: release the blade lock and begin closing the blade while blocking the opening stud with your thumb, then move your thumb and safely finish closing the blade (no guillotine). This knife has a good heft and feels competent. My one reservation is the stainless steel blade's titanium anti-corrosion dark coating. Stainless steel doesn't rust, but how will the dark coating look after knife repeated use?

Pros
  • Snaps open smoothly and locks quietly. Blade is very sharp!
Cons
  • Glass breaker may not be necessary in all outdoor situations
