Review on πŸ₯• Efficient Norpro Deluxe Bean Frencher: Clamp French/Green Slicer/Cutter for Heavy-Duty Use by Keith Ostby

Lightweight but very useful

Before purchasing I read a lot of 1 and 5 star comments to get an idea of the common criticisms and found a few correct ones, but here's the thing that this is NOT a professional instrument, it is a relatively well made but very light instrument. When unpacking, I noticed that not all components were firmly screwed together. A few twists with a screwdriver fixed it quickly. As mentioned in other reviews, the jaws would be better if they opened wider/deeper and the clamping screw could be stronger. Since this is an inexpensive machine (I don't use the word "cheap"), you can't expect it to grind a bowl of green beans in 30 seconds. Especially when cutting larger and more mature grains. 3-4 beans at a time is a lot for a lightweight device and you'll end up with shredded and chopped beans instead of chopped beans. I've used English style flat beans and fed them one at a time and they've been fine. However, because of the narrow clamping hole mentioned above, I mounted it on a 3/4" thick cutting board and left it hanging over the sink where I could place the receiving bowl under the slicer. To gulp down ripe beans, make sure the block fitting snugly against the edge of what you're pinching it against is to start each bean by inserting the bean with one hand and twisting the slicer with the other, and once it grabs the bean I just move my hand around propping up the cutting board I'm pressing it against She's lost about 2 pounds Beans in about 3 or 4 minutes very easy and no tearing or tearing the beans by overfeeding the machine In short this is a great little (cue) Machine and if you take your time and don't overload the devices it does an excellent job of cutting your vegetables in French Hope this helps!

Pros
  • Cuts multiple beans at once
Cons
  • Nothing
