Review on Klean Kanteen Insulated Stainless 20 Ounce by Patrick Martin

The chemical taste of the water from the caps is not what I was hoping for

A few years ago I bought a 27 ounce stainless steel bottle. It's shiny and still going strong with dents and faded letters. Its water tastes great. Based on that success story I bought this 20 ounce vacuum flask thinking the product would be just as good. This was October 2014. As of this writing August 2016 there is still a residual odor in the water and presumably related chemicals that remain in the water when I cap the bottle. I foolishly assumed the problem was the vacuum flask and the type of cap used to make it. So, in March 2015, I bought a Klean Kanteen wide mouth bottle with a stainless steel cap (brushed stainless steel, 64 oz). Thought I would buy a larger version of my 27 ounce bottle. nope The lid also gives the water a disgusting chemical taste. I read some of the reviews and saw that others had the same issue. I washed the tops in vinegar, soaked them in water for a few hours, tried bleach, tried baking soda but nothing eliminated the taste. I hoped that time would lessen the smell and it did. a little, but still have a strong taste of water. So bottles are not used at any level to store water if you want a great tasting liquid. I only use them for short periods when I need to transport water from A to B. I can't leave the water in the fridge without it taking on the smell. I am very disappointed in the product. And while I really like my 27oz bottle, when I looked at some insulating jars I decided not to use the KK product - I was really losing faith in the brand.
