Cleaned a hole in a heel in 3 weeks

My 8 year old son loved these boots and wore them to school every day for 3 weeks. By the end of the third week, a pretty decent hole had formed right in the heel. I hate throwing a lot of stuff in the landfill so I fixed it myself with shoe slime and rubber treads. I hope they survive the rainy season. :(
