I tried to understand all the negative reviews about this product. I don't quite understand it and I have to explain it to people who don't understand how to install them properly. It is a solid metal gate with two extensions, one on each side. I have a 43.5" entryway in my back hallway. I needed a very wide gate so I got it from a local shop. They were very high and it was very, very difficult to climb over them. I figured I need a goal with goals because I found it here at Revain but declined after reading some reviews of it being "a piece of plastic junk", "unstable and easy to push", etc . was . I decided to give the guess a try Doubt as I come first and can quickly understand and make my own judgement. I figured I'd either return the one I bought locally or this one depending on how it went. of extension cords. They are two different sizes and I used the larger of the two. Maybe some people who had gate stability issues used the wrong size extension? IDK. So the gate has these threaded rods that you turn to close the gap between the expander and the wall. They are really easy to adjust as they have built in adjustment knobs. NOTE*** - People who mention the bolt and latch don't match may not have realized they have a gap, but once tightened in place that gap closes. So if you look at the gate out of the box you can see that it is misaligned but once tightened and seated it fits perfectly. Within 5 minutes I tightened this thing up and installed it quite nicely. The swing gates work like a master and the locking mechanism is easy to use. I've read of people having issues with the latch, but basically you just push the latch up and lift the gate to open. You will need to lift it up as it has a part that goes through the bottom rail to keep the gate stable at the bottom. The only thing I didn't screw onto the wall was the wall receiver. Screws are included for this, but I wanted to test the functionality before screwing it in. To anyone saying a child or anyone else could knock this over, it's obvious that the wall brackets weren't screwed into the hardwood part of the wall. . If that were the case, you'd have to bend all the gates to get them out and "kick over" them. So sorry for the long review but I hate seeing products being scolded for people making mistakes during installation. I seriously wanted to pass this point on, but I'm very glad I didn't. It's worth the price and I won't be grimacing to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night again.
