I really liked this product because of the price. We set up a roast at the house for the first time yesterday so I checked it out first thing in the morning based on the bad reviews I read here. After reading the directions the first time and then adding water to the pot, I set it to below medium. Within a minute it started making very loud noises like in a bad review that includes a video. While the noise could have been ignored, the biggest problem is that he started SMOKING. We couldn't say where. It appeared that these are internal parts under the part. Return the item today. Also checked several times if it feels like the first time or something. no Interestingly, it heated water, but I'm not risking an explosion/fire by inhaling smoke and chemical fumes. Time from Amazon ($30 cheaper). This product heats up quickly, is quieter, wider (though not as deep due to the shape) and feels more durable. learned my lesson
