My wife and I photograph high school and college sports. We were looking for something to communicate in the field and tried wireless Bluetooth headsets from different manufacturers, including Bose and Jawbone. We picked them for their so called "noise canceling ability" and also because we've used Jawbones in the past and they worked pretty well for general conversations. We figured that since Jawbones is a high quality and expensive product, it would do the job. When we filmed our first soccer game, we were surprised that every time the crowd roars, we don't hear each other at all. So we decided to try this 36 channel GMRS Midland LXT600VP3 with 30 miles range, NOAA weather alert, rechargeable batteries and battery charger with Midland AVPH3 clear security headsets with a pair of PTT/VOX. This year we filmed 2 football games and we are thrilled. While they don't cancel out noise at all, the ability to talk over PTT eliminates the noise in our ears from an "always-on" Bluetooth headset. The quality of these radios and headphones is very good. Sure, they might not be Motorola like the PoPo, but they're very well made and feel substantial to me, and they're under $400. We love NOAA weather radio just for fun, especially when a storm is raging during our time in the field. We love the NOAA weather alert and are able to take cover before most other people know the danger is coming.
