Excellent value for money, reliable and secure

This is a well made door guard. This is for door lock holes that are 5.25-6 inches apart, which may vary with your door configuration. So measure the latch/bolt holes in the door frame or door before ordering. A great addition to your door security. This protective cover not only strengthens the door itself, but also prevents unauthorized picking of the lock in traffic jams. The instructions for installing it on your door were a bit unclear. You must of course remove both the lock handle and the deadbolt. BUT. Keep the inner latch and deadbolts screwed to the door along with their original plates. Just remove the screws that hold them in place as you will use them later when mounting the door guard on it. This door guard GOES over these latch plates (i.e. the side of the door jamb where the patches and bolts come out. Each has its own plate that screws in and is flush with the side of the door jamb). By mounting it on the plates and threading the plate screws through the holes in the jamb's side plate, this greatly simplifies installation and ensures the door guard sits flush with the jamb. . I literally placed it over the door, installed it on the jamb side first, then used screws to install the side panels. Went like clockwork! The door closes smoothly. If it rubs, you will most likely need to sand the door jamb to get it flush. Use a dremel. Believe me. So much easier. Ok, what are the downsides? Is this stainless steel. Fingerprints are for people with OCD like me. It's for my shop so it gets dirty so that's what it is. Looks great! Another disadvantage is that they are not weatherproof. They should, because while it fits the door well, it doesn't seal. Moisture can penetrate and get between the protective grille and the door. If your door is wood like mine, use a bead of exterior sealant at the top and along the vertical lines for the surface exposed to the elements. This ensures that no water penetrates and becomes a problem later. It was a great purchase and I've improved it with an amazing door lock and deadbolt combo I got here at Revain. This is a fantastic security solution and I am very happy with this purchase.
