UPDATE BELOW: I confess I've been looking for cheap patch cords to connect rack mount equipment to my home lab. After connecting the two cables, I had to remove them to manage the cables. I couldn't unplug a cable. After I cut off the sheath covering the clip, both cables I connected had tiny bits of vinyl/PVC underneath the clip. There's no way I would remove them without cutting off the case and then digging up that little piece. The cables were shipped individually wrapped and I did not thoroughly inspect the first two cables. I've checked the other cables in their bags and no longer see any obvious issues, but there is a small amount of material on the cases that wasn't carefully removed during manufacture. I don't know if this trimmings will fall off and cause problems in the future, but I regret not having purchased a better quality cable. UPDATE: I opened up a third patch cord to hold the two halves of my cord tester together. Out of habit, I pressed the test button and found that pairs 4-5 and 7-8 didn't work. Then I opened and checked all of them. NO CABLE WERE ALL 4 PAIRS POSITIVE! The best result I got was 3 working pairs and only then bending the cable back and forth several times. My tester uses a known good cable from a company manufacturer (just to rule out faulty test equipment). I will return this item.
