You can't go wrong with these Xgazer binoculars. And these are great binoculars. I've had smaller compact binoculars in the past that have been fine. I still use them but wanted a second pair. These black, rubberized ones are waterproof, fogproof, and feature a roof prism design, which I preferred over the poro design. What struck me was the incredible transparency of the glass. I understand that people also rave about the much more expensive products from other brands and I have seen their excellent quality as well. However, this model seemed so close to them in optical clarity that I couldn't really tell the difference, and it was almost three times the price of other models. . . You will become smarter, buy unconditionally! I deliberately preferred 8X over 10X because they're noticeably brighter, easier to hold, and the image doesn't dance. The increased depth of field, field of view, and brightness of lower magnification optics all contributed to my admitted bias in favor of lower magnification binoculars. Unfortunately, many mistakenly choose higher performance, thinking that everything should be even better. It doesn't take long to realize that their lower light-gathering capacity at higher magnifications makes them difficult to hold still and use at dawn or in the evening. In fact, sometimes you can lose more by using "too high" magnification in manual applications in the field.
