Review on MidWest High Walk Thru Steel Gate by Angie Creek

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great Cat Foiler. (UPDATE)

I thought I had ordered a graphite finish (list price was a few bucks cheaper) but it came in white instead, which was fine with me. The 39" gate is too high for my big cat to jump over, the smooth surface keeps it from getting tangled while climbing, and the sides of the frame keep it from sneaking past my feet. Installation is a bit fiddly as the hold down nuts require multiple adjustments, but the gate fits the doorway snugly and securely. The hole almost fits the width of my "walker" style walker, so the paint will likely scratch you finally the door. Accessories for rollators (gate width 19 inches, indicated in the description, refers to the swing part; the opening is a few centimeters wider). When the rollator's front wheels spin, I have to back out through the door and pull the rollator over the bar at the bottom of the gate frame. When the gate closes in an arc of about 30 degrees, the top and bottom locks are fully locked, announcing your entry or exit with an almost musical "BOON-NNG" sound (something like those big tubular bells). popular chimes). Raising the gate and simultaneously operating the top latch to open it is awkward but doable. If you have a mean cat like mine, she will try to paw or poke the gate, so DO NOT just gently close the gate "for" (as they say) if you want a resourceful problem solver to stay locked in . UPDATE: If the top latch doesn't fully engage after a few weeks of use, then it's not broken. It simply means that vibration or props on the gate pushed the frame out of its vertical position. Adjust the nuts on the sides of the frame to solve the problem. UPDATE (2020): The top hinge on this gate broke late this spring (that's planned plastic obsolescence for you). The son drilled a hole in the plastic body of the hinge and screwed in a long bolt and nut from the bottom. If the nut is accidentally overtightened the gate will not open so it's not a perfect solution but the gate will still work.
