Review on πŸ“ High-performance Raspberry Pi 2 Model B Desktop with Quad Core CPU, 1GB RAM and Linux OS by Brannan Mclemore

Revainrating 5 out of 5

By far the best computer for $40

Pros: Almost too many to mention. where to start It works great with Minecraft Pi Edition. I don't know how to make a pickaxe. Super cheap and cute. Four 900MHz cores and 1GB of RAM! Leaves the old Pi in the dust. With 4 USB ports, you're unlikely to need a separate powered USB hub. Make sure your power supply is greater than 2A and enable 1.2A USB output current on the Pi with max_usb_current = 1 in /boot/config.txt to power USB hard drives and other more demanding devices be able. Note that this is a maximum of 1.2A across all USB ports, not per port. If you need to run multiple demanding devices at the same time, use a powered hub. It can work with Windows 10. (Oops, that should be in the con section!) Cons: Sensitivity to light! Yes indeed! If your Raspberry Pi 2 plans include lasers or xenon flash bulbs, consider using an opaque case. I believe this will be fixed in future versions but it would be nice if they already fixed it when I got it. Not that I plan on taking photos of my running Pi, but why wouldn't I? For some reason the Pi can't take advantage of the monitor's power saving features, at least not with the default Raspbian image. I have a Beaglebone Black that connects to an LCD monitor via an HDMI to DVI cable and by default the monitor freezes after a while, even in the console, so I'm not sure what the problem is. The best it can do is turn off the screen while keeping the backlight on all the time. It's kind of hillbilly if you ask me. It's 2015 now and monitors should be able to stop on a timer, even with a Pi. Global warming! However, if you're using it for a headless system, that's a moot point. Still not compatible with Altoids tin. Not on the black circuit board.
