Review on 🎂 CubicFun Lighting Birthday Puzzle - Dutchman by Larry Cothran

There were some problems. I thought the idea was very good, if so. I was very frustrated with quality control issues preventing me from displaying it the way I wanted. There were problems with the bow and the masts. You can see from the photos that I am not able to attach this shackle tightly so there will be a gap when it lights up. The lower jaw snapped in half trying to attach it in front when the ship was not long enough to reach either side to install it. I ended up having to tilt it more to the visible side and let the back hang out as it didn't reach. I've taken the front apart and rebuilt it three times and it still didn't fit. It makes me think it's not my fault. For the rope braid, I had to cut or stretch the holes where the pieces joined because the pieces didn't fit together. Most were too big for the holes. A few pieces "rested on", I could only get them to snap, on one side of the ship's mast, not both, as the length measurements were wrong. There were issues with several boards of the pieces themselves. The pattern didn't match the brand, so the white backing was visible. I had to place these pieces on the opposite side of the ship that you see and use a marker to paint over the white. Overall it was a lot of fun, my son is enjoying the ghost ship he has in his bedroom right now. I wanted to display it in my living room, even bought a shelf for it, but it doesn't match well enough to display it confidently. I haven't seen anyone with similar problems. Unfortunately I went 3/4 of the way before encountering these issues so returning is not an option. It's my fault I didn't look at the back of the board, just the front. It looks really fantastic, I think in the future make sure the pieces are stamped correctly before you start putting the puzzles together to make sure you get the end product you want. The construction took 5 to 6 hours.
