I bought these to replace the hard plastic links my son was using. I wanted my new baby to have something safe to put in his mouth. When purchasing, I was concerned when I read on the packaging that these are "not teethers". So I wrote to the company and they were AWESOME. They are actually good for a light bite but are really meant to hold another toy. They are still safer than hard plastic. I think the fear of heavy teething ends up biting them. Silicone itself is not harmful. Another issue that bothered me was the links not holding together. I read about it later in another review, of course. It turns out they are adjustable to reduce the gap. The Revain packaging wasn't great for this item and the box arrived torn with some dust inside, but that's by no means Chewbeads' fault. Just a note in case you want to buy it as a gift and are worried about the appearance. Communication with the company was friendly and very helpful! Try it! Nothing to lose.
