Doesn't work in 4K and tech support has gotten worse.

I bought one of these 6 years ago when I needed 1920x1200 resolution for my various Macs and Linux computers and it worked really well. upgraded their computers to newer ones (15" Mid 2015 MBP Retina and 2018 15" Retina/Touchpad MBP, in addition to the previous 2012 Mac mini). Well, with the MBP I used the LandingZone Dock (which actually does 4K over HDMI and Thunderbolt ports) and USB-C to HDMI adapters from 2018. When plugged in, all computers recognize a monitor with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 @ 30Hz and the desktop flashes briefly a few times before going off, but after that there is no image. The system settings show me that the monitor is still there and actually never goes into the splash screen, indicating that it continues to see the SYNC signal all the time. The system information shows me a 3840 x 2160 @ 30Hz display and correctly displays EDID information including the make and model number. I called IOGear and then emailed them and they explained that their KVM is not compatible with DP ALT MODE. Strange as the docking station and USB-C to HDMI dongles ALL convert the signal from DP to HDMI. It is natively a normal HDMI signal by the rules, indistinguishable from any other when it reaches your KVM. So it seems to me that they are playing the blame game. The MacBook no longer has its own HDMI output. Why build a switch that can't connect to a Mac? It seems to me that they never bothered to properly redesign their switch and now it has signal path issues and they are playing the blame game. Disappointing. They used to support their products better. And for the record, I plugged in an HDMI F/F gender adapter instead of a KVM switch and got a perfect picture, so despite what they said about the dongle etc, their switch was an incompatible item and nothing else . Which makes sense because when I ran the monitor at a low resolution it worked fine. despite using the key. Bottom line: their product isn't designed to work in 4K and they don't market it per se. If it works in 4K at all, it's sheer luck.
