Doesn't work in 4K and tech support has gotten worse.

I bought one of these 6 years ago when I needed 1920x1200 resolution for my various Macs and Linux computers and it worked really well. upgraded their computers to newer ones (15" Mid 2015 MBP Retina and 2018 15" Retina/Touchpad MBP, in addition to the previous 2012 Mac mini). Well, with the MBP I used the LandingZone Dock (which actually does 4K over HDMI and Thunderbolt ports) and USB-C to HDMI adapters from 2018. When plugged in, all computers recognize a monitor with a resolution of 3840 xโ€ฆ

Works well but a little slow, sometimes crashes

In general, the device works well. No problems with KVM sharing as well as webcam and speakers. Nice addition to my previous SeaWit unit. However, it works a little differently, which takes some getting used to. You double-click on Scroll Lock THEN press Enter to toggle it. It's fast enough, maybe a second to switch. If you haven't filled all 4 ports it will jump to an empty port and then automatically jump to the next port, which is a bonus, but it's kind of weird that it jumps to a deadโ€ฆ

Excellent HDMI KVM: good video and PC switching, no problems

I've been using this KVM for about a month and it works great. No problem switching video or audio. Haven't used the USB toggle feature yet. The only thing I notice is that sometimes it takes a few seconds to switch between PCs. This is not a problem for me and may be due to the way I set up my computer to spin the PC hard drives or turn off the power/screensaver on the monitor. I have a Logitech G11 gaming keyboard with media controls. I don't use game controls, but the multimedia controlsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Some flaws

I've used cheaper HDMI switches without keyboard/mouse support on multiple monitors. I'm finally tired of so many keyboards and mice. I also don't like how my computers move monitors with cheaper switches. Bought ioGear GCS1794 hoping it would solve my problems. The HDMI part works great. Screens no longer flicker when switching from one monitor to another and EDID works great. Unfortunately, the keyboard and mouse emulation isn't that good. Doesn't work with my Logitech M570 wireless miceโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Not just useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are cons

Very easy to install - it required a call to IOGear tech support to use the wireless keyboard/mouse - but they were great. You can now switch between desktop and laptop using the same shared peripherals (monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers). I connected my home desktop (HP) to port 1 and my work laptop (Thinkpad) to port 4, I have 2 ports open for future. During the installation I learned a few things: 1) Each device must be configured and working properly BEFORE it is connected to KVM ie. allโ€ฆ
