Looks like straw, but it's probably made of plastic. Really happy with it for color and durability. The "leather" strap and the very small "leather" pieces that hold the chain look very cheap, but the wallet itself is simple and great for my needs, and the gold chain is fine. I've become a huge fan of handleless purses, but it's hard to find a bum bag that doesn't look like you're going on a Disney vacation, so I usually just design crossbody bags. I was able to thread one end of the gold chain thinly through the D loop designed to hold the end of the chain. Now it's a fully adjustable fanny pack that fits almost any size.
