The design is great for walking on smooth ice.
Have used a very similar product with the same grip pattern on the sole for many years. They were really good for walking on flat, shiny ice, but when I used them in hilly, hard snow, they invariably fell off my hiking boots. So I bought them because they had a strap that I thought might solve the problem of losing or pulling out. I haven't used the new ones with a strap but I find the included strap a bit short and definitely not for heavy use. The weather here has changed, so the actual test will have to wait.
