This Optimus fan was purchased to replace a Lakewood fan we had a long, long time ago that eventually died. Wanted another Lakewood but couldn't find any more so bought Optimus. It's 18 months for us. He works hard, probably every day. The base of the Optimus fan detaches from the cage, so if you tilt it up a bit it won't stay in that position. Take a screwdriver and tighten it and it will last a while, maybe a couple of weeks, but then loosen it again. The low speed switch went out out of the blue one day, so now it just runs at a higher and louder speed, which I think is good for our application but still indicates that it's a cheap fan acts. No wire handle on the back, thinner cage wire = further proof of a cheap fan. Yes, it moves air ok and the low speed was quiet enough while it lasted, but it's not a very good fan. After getting this one we needed another fan and instead bought a Massey fan for a few bucks. The Massey fan is much better.
