Works, but not great

This works for what I wanted, which is key storage for short-term guests, but it's far from ideal. Pros: Has a cover to protect the lever and combination dials from dirt and weather. The shackle's rubber coating prevents it from scratching the door and rattling when the door is opened or closed. I don't know if this is intentional, but the dust cover touches the dials when you close it, so the cover usually moves the dials, hiding your combination. Cons: The lever to open the door is recessed and not easy. Movement. The combination dials are recessed and not very easy to turn. The internal volume is quite small and flat. When the lock is hanging vertically, closing the door can be problematic as the key can get in the way, especially if it's hanging on a ring or has a key fob attached to it. Need a built-in hook in the compartment to hang the key. After all, the door doesn't just close, even if the compartment is empty. Sometimes you have to press pretty hard to close it. UPDATE after 18 months of use: A small amount of WD40 around the latch really helped make the lever easier to operate and the door easier to close. Also, I found another scam: if the combination is wrong when trying to close the door (i.e. you accidentally move one or more knobs when the door is open), you won't be able to close the door at all. . This has happened a few times and people have tried to force it shut, which has actually damaged the metal case where the latch makes contact.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Vulgarity
