Review on NiteRider Pro 1800 Race Black by Alex Montgomery

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No problem - the best MTB light period.

Expert Trail/Downhill - MTBR 30 years old. Extensive night driving experience. The gentleman who said "Not 1800 lumens?!?" This flashlight has been tested by every professional blog/website/magazine etc and has always been at or above 1800. NiteRider is aimed at professionals who don't handle BS grades be able. The light has 1800 lumens. When driving down the street, such a light does not appear as bright as headlights. Most cheap flashlights use modified spots to make their light appear brighter than it really is. This light spreads out in a uniformly wide but penetrating pattern. There is great engineering here. In terms of commuting or other outdoor use, I'd say this flashlight feels a little too killer given its weight and durability. Off-road it is unmatched. This is a high quality trail light and it is pure perfection. Beam spread and penetration work technically flawlessly, as do fire road bombs. Where I live, critters large and small appear at night, so that kind of light is also very welcome. In terms of brightness, there are monsters with lots of light like the Niterider 2800 and 3400, but as you can see in every pro test, serious riders don't like those mega lights. They're overkill and worse, useless. We've come to the point where more doesn't mean more. The quality and clarity of the light pattern makes a great light. The 1800 has amazing penetration without blasting the ground in front of me. Light floods the landscape with useful details where they are needed. On the trails, I rarely ride 5s. Mostly 3s and 4s. It's hard for an inexperienced night rider to understand that too much light can blur terrain and impair night vision. However, it's still an incredibly crazy bright light! Can easily light up every inch of a morning. If you look at all the small and big details, you can see that this lamp was made with love. Everything is perfect where it should be. In every category, this flashlight comes first: best mount, best controls, best status lights, best battery compartment, best cables and connectors, and best design. If you've seen my other 100+ reviews, you know that I rarely, if ever, give such a high rating. Off-road, look no further. With distinction +! Long live the king!
