Review on ๐Ÿถ SportDOG Brand YardTrainer: Rechargeable, Waterproof Remote Dog Training Collars - Static, Vibrate & Tone Features by Adina Jordan

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Well designed remote, poorly designed collar. The best collar I've ever had, but it still has flaws.

I have purchased and used 3-4 shock collars for my dog, each had its drawbacks. I bought the SportDOG trainer thinking it would solve all the problems I had with other collars. Unfortunately, it has one major downside! PROS: * I really like the dial for adjusting the beat level. One of the disadvantages of other collars is that it is not possible to easily/quickly adjust the intensity when the shock strength changes. With this collar you can go from "3" to "8" very quickly.* The second button, which has more effect, is a good idea in practice, but I rarely use it. Two small batteries in the collar and I noticed that it works fine, but the batteries can be discharged and will not cause a big shock. For this reason I only give this collar 3 stars. I put the collar on my dog for 5-10 minutes several times a day, but I want to be able to use an electric shock knowing it actually works*. Batteries don't last long either. I would say that you need to change both batteries in your collar every month. If it was a regular AAA battery I wouldn't mind.* The collar design is similar to another collar that didn't work for me. Instead of a collar that wraps around the front of the device, it's held in place by two plastic washers (which can break). I really like the design of the SportDOG remote control (5 stars), but the collar is a weak point. I decided to "upgrade" it to a rechargeable version, although I like the "stubborn" feature of the one I have.
