I already had a Hercules angle grinder. I really didn't want to buy another one, but reading reviews of various concrete grinding dust covers seemed to indicate that Hercules would be problematic to install. So I decided to buy a Metabo HPT G12-SR4 to use with this sheath and its 5 inch diamond blade. I figured that one of the combinations could most likely work, and I needed to find a working solution immediately. At Metabo, the medium-thick ring that comes with the housing is the right size so that the housing fits onto the grinder without any effort. Problem. It needs to be twisted properly to get it all clear, but it works and holds securely. Housing on the Metabo. The spindle disc supplied with Metabo is thicker but larger in diameter than the hole in the center of the hood. Either use a deeper goblet (at least 3mm) with the Metabo, or do what I did, which is to enlarge the hole in the center of the case from about 41mm to about 46mm in diameter. This was easy to do with a rotating file on a drill/driver. It's about as big as this hole can be made. Before I get into how well the dust cover works, a few words on how to install it on Hercules. None of the collars that come with the case are sized to work with Hercules. I was able to install the shroud on the Hercules by wrapping 3 or 4 layers of aluminum tape around the thinnest collar. However, the cup wheel then turned out to be too big using the original Hercules spindle wheel. This washer is held in place with an o-ring, so I have not attempted to replace it. But it seems likely that this shroud could be made to work with a Hercules grinder if one were to use a deeper cup than the one that came with the shroud. There is no guarantee that the aluminum banded Kludge will last! Interestingly, the spindle key supplied with this cup wheel fits Hercules but not Metabo. After the installation on a Metabo grinder described above, this combination worked great! The vacuum connector is a standard European size (35mm) so a Bosch VAC005 hose, for example, fits snugly. It takes a lot of pressure to lock, but once in it stays there. . I actually used the Cen-Tec 94181 hose because I don't need a 5m hose between the dust box and the grinder and I don't want to shorten my Bosch hose. " tends to open on its own, but adding some tape to close it works well. Combined with this dust cover, the right hose, a dust replacement, a HEPA filter bag inside the vacuum, and an internal HEPA filter inside the vacuum I have practically NO DUST in the room if I sand extensively!Of course I could get some dust if I wasn't careful while sanding, but overall this setup just works!I completed my project with about 12 pounds of dust in the dust substitute and about 3 pounds in a filter bag, and as I said, there was practically no dust in the room.
