Review on Simplicity Pattern 5794 Costumes XS S M L by Gelin Battle

Great for Beginners, Great for Ravens

I love this pattern! This was my first sewing experience in over six years (I'd only sewed a few pieces before). I modified the pattern a bit by removing the lining so my cape is more economical and I have NO PROBLEM knitting this pattern. In fact, it was the first time I ever used a template. There were a few confusing things that I didn't understand due to my lack of experience, but if you take the time to read the instructions and look at the pictures you should be able to figure it out. I even used a different fabric than advertised. They offered velvet and satin but I used ponte. I will definitely use this product for another raincoat in the future (maybe try some of the fabrics suggested). If you're using this for Raven (from the Teen Titans) note that the hood looks a lot like Little Red Riding Hood as you can see in the photo. It wasn't my desired shape but I was afraid to redo the hood. It may be a good idea to use hood padding if not using a stiffer fabric, or to reshape the hood if using it on the Raven so it's less baggy/more accurate for show. but I was afraid to redo the hood.
