Review on Dell XPS 13 9300 Touchscreen by Andrew Kay

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good Ultrabook

I use it as a development machine. I thought the laptop (Lennovo ThinkPad with 32GB RAM/I7) supplied by my company was a decent machine, but to be honest this little XPS13 is a serious machine. The keyboard is (obviously) a lot smaller than the 15-inch Lenovo, which has the best keyboard I've used on a laptop, but the XPS keyboard is good when you need it. I say if you need it because a typical setup involves an external monitor/keyboard/mouse. Running multiple editors (VS Code) and browser tabs is no problem at all. The display when I use it primarily for recreational tubing etc is superb. Other reviews said the speakers are pretty average. I would say earlier Dell and Lennovo sound pretty bad compared to the XPS speakers. In the restored form, the battery is also quite decent - 5-6 hours of continuous operation. So far I'm very impressed.

Pros
  • 1TB PCIe M.2 NVMe NVMe Class 35 SSD
Cons
  • I am silent
