All the woodwork was of good quality and polished smooth. It is very easy to assemble, but I would recommend a screwdriver. Some mention having to drill holes in the legs to install the bottom shelf. There were tiny indentations on my legs to mark where the screw and bracket should go. They were tiny and probably easy to miss if you wanted to pre-drill a hole. The indentation was deep enough to hold the screw in place while running. The wood is soft enough that no drill is needed to drive the screws. The layer of milk color is easy to apply, there is no need for pre-sanding. I wasn't expecting much so I'm very happy with this table.
