I bought this camera set for my 13 year old son for Christmas because I have a Canon EOS A2E and lots of lenses for him to use with this camera. The Rebel 2000 is fantastically light, which is amazing compared to all of Canon's more expensive SLRs (A2E, EOS-3, etc.). However, it should be noted that while the camera accepts all EOS lenses, the lens mount is plastic, so you probably wouldn't want to use it as an extra housing on a jungle expedition (but chances are, if you have an EOS 3 you already know that. ). My son especially loved the silver lens that came with it - I don't like it at all but I guess his generation thinks silver looks cooler than black! While the Rebel 2000 doesn't have eye focus controls, it does have focus points that can be selected manually with a dial - it's not as technologically cool as the A2E or EOS 3 (which actually track your eyeball to focus on what you're seeing) , but more practical in many ways. All in all, this is a fine gem of a DSLR.
