Many of the cheaper Vise-Grip knockoffs use pins to attach the fixed jaw to the main body rather than soldering like the originals. These pliers have a permanently soldered jaw. Overall, they look very good considering they're about half the price of the original. Only time will tell how they hold up, but I clamped them very tight in my testing with no issues. I see a previous reviewer giving it 1 star which doesn't make much sense. The pliers I received close tightly whether it's jaw to jaw or when clamped onto a 1 inch diameter piece of metal. Correctly adjusted in front of the clamp, my bolt is securely locked. I didn't get the impression that this person understood how the overcenter switch lock works. For example, maybe he thinks they need to hold on to the rarefied air? I don't know, but his comments about tighten first and then tighten are totally out of place. not even sure how to take it. Well, I'm just saying I'll take what he says with a grain of salt.
